Dowd resigns as President/CEO from Greer Chamber after five months

Marjorie Dowd has resigned as President/CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce effective immediately. She has only served since March 1.
The Executive Board of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce announced that Katie Collins, current Vice President of Operations, will serve as interim President/CEO.
City, JBM Leasing settle lawsuit over sale of Allen Bennett Hospital

The City of Greer and JBM Leasing LLC announced a settlement agreement and release of claims on a 2016 lawsuit pending from the sale of a 10-acre tract to 313 Memorial Drive LLC.
Ownership of the former Allen Bennett Memorial Hospital and Roger Huntington Nursing center complex reached its apparent conclusion Tuesday night, nearly eight years after the Greenville Hospital System gifted the property to the city in September 2010. Jim Benson of 313 Memorial Drive LLC agreed to purchase the property for $3.01 million in December 2016.
Walter Brashier Drive becomes gateway to Greer campus, new academic initiatives begin in fall

North Greenville University held a ceremonial unveiling of the new street name leading from Poinsett Street to the school’s Tim Brashier Campus at Greer on Friday. The street, formerly Ryans Corp Drive, is now named Walter Brashier Drive in honor of Dr. T. Walter Brashier, the graduate school’s namesake.
Brashier and his wife, Christine, have been two of the most generous and faithful supporters of NGU. Their generosity to the university has spanned over four decades. Their first commitment was a downtown Greenville office building in the 1970s. Since that time, they have started an undergraduate scholarship fund, supported several capital projects, given the lead gift to launch the T. Walter Brashier Graduate School in 2005, and served on several university committees, boards, and councils.
GSP will offer passengers Escape Lounge

A company is investing more than $1 million in a 2,500-square-foot Escape Lounge at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.
MAG USA, a Chicago-headquartered company, is developing the lounge.

I went through treatments, and the doctors have officially declared me to be in remission. Still, I can’t find a life insurance company that will work with me. I have a small policy through my employer, that is equal to double my salary. Do you have any suggestions for finding additional coverage?
CBL State Savings Bank opening loan office in Landrum

Greer-based CBL State Savings Bank will locate a loan office in Landrum to be opened on Oct. 1.
The office will be located at 920 East Rutherford Street. Initially, only the bank’s loan products, including first and second residential mortgages, equity lines of credit, land loans, construction/permanent loans, commercial real estate loans and more, will be available. Other products will be offered later.
BMW Plant in Greer making final preparations for production of all-new BMW X5
