North Greenville University presented its inaugural Leo Vernon Powell Legacy Award, and honored faithful supporters, at its 125th anniversary celebration in Greenville.

The Legacy Awards were given posthumously to Ruth Ashmore, wife of Russell C. Ashmore, Jr. from Taylors, and Dr. David Hayes, a 1988 North Greenville graduate and husband of Debbie Hayes from Monroe, N.C.

McAbee wins national powerlifting championship

 Carson McAbee, from Greer, won the USA Powerlifting Championship.
 
 
 

Carson McAbee is a gold medal winner in a sport that only the strongest can claim the title – Champion.

McAbee, 17, won the teen division of the USAPL Raw Powerlifting Championship in Orlando, Fla. All the more remarkable was it culminated McAbee’s first season of competing in the USA Powerlifting Championships.

Riverside students get a hands-on view of emergency medical units

The Med Trans and Air Med Regional helicopter drew a lot of attention from Riverside High School students.
 

Students of the Health Sciences programs at Riverside High School got an up close look at emergency medical response units.

The Med Trans and Air Med Regional helicopter and Vital Care units from the Greenville Health System, and the City of Greer Fire Department provided a fire truck to tour and firefighters helped students don turn-out gear.
