McCleer wins Outstanding Vocal at Riverside Middle Talent Show

Anna McCleer won first place in vocal performance Tuesday night at Riverside Middle School’s talent show.
McCleer was a finalist last year at Greer Idol Teen (third place), where she impressed judges with her voice and song writing.
Hollywild has 'Sneak Peak' on weekends in March

Hollywild Animal Park will celebrate International Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, March 23 as its kickoff to the 2013 season.
Every Friday and Saturday in March is a “Sneak Preview” with discounted admission rates (adults $10, senior citizens, children (2-14) and handicapped individuals $8.

The 2013 Miss Greater Greer and Miss Greater Greer Teen will be crowned Saturday night.

Funnelicious gets national TV exposure next week

Funnelicious will be featured on a Travel Channel episode of Deep Fried Paradise 3 on Feb. 27 at 11 p.m. Repeats will air during the week.
The show is a celebration of deep-fried concoctions throughout the nation.
Miss Blue Ridge Relay for Life pageant taking applications

The 7th Annual Miss Blue Ridge Relay for Life Pageant is scheduled for March 16, at 6 p.m. at the Blue Ridge High School Auditorium.
The BRHS Air Force Junior ROTC is the pageant’s sponsor. This year’s theme, in partnership with Relay for Life, is “Wave Goodbye to Cancer”.
Southern Dance Connection pays it forward to Wounded Warriors

The Southern Dance Connection dancers opted to forego their trophies to donate the sum of their cost to the Wounded Warrior Project.
“They had a great competition and received numerous overall and special judges awards,” said Lindsay Roberts, the director of the Greer dance studio.

Grease: The School Version has his final weekend run Friday through Sunday at the J. Harley Bonds Career Center at 505 N. Main Street.
The school version removes profanity, lewd behavior, and Rizzo’s pregnancy scare. Since Rizzo’s pregnancy scare is removed, the song “There Are Worst Things I Could Do” is also removed from this edition.

Taylor Ross, the newly crowned Miss Greer High School, will try for a double coronation in one month as she is among seven girls vying for the 2013 Miss Greater Greer Teen title.
Sydney Sill, 2012 Miss South Carolina Teen, will relinquish her title.
Six contestants vie for 2013 Miss Greater Greer title

The 2013 Miss Greater Greer pageant is scheduled Saturday at 7 p.m. at Greer High School.
Six contestants are vying to gain the crown vacated by 2012 Miss Greer Lauren Cabaniss when she competed in a Miss USA pageant. Cabaniss was first runnerup to last year’s Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers.
Admission is $12.
NYC musician appearing at Stomping Ground on Feb. 28

New York City musician Christine Santelli’s southern tour will bring her to The Stomping Grounds on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 7-9:30 p.m.
Santelli’s “Dragonfly” was named co-Album of the Year by Deep Roots Magazine. The magazine’s video of the month is a piano and vocal version of “Find My Home” from her album.
“Dragonfly” was a result of a project in the summer of 2010 when she wrote or videotaped 100 original songs in 100 consecutive days. Fifteen of these originals were recorded for her first solo acoustic album.
She has toured the world (South Africa, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, France and Spain) and released 8 CDs over her career that spans more than two decades.
Santelli's southern tour takes her to Johnson City and Nashville, Tenn., Athens and Savannah, Ga., and Silverhill and Mobile, Ala.

Blue Dogs perform after S.C. All-Star football game

The Blue Dogs will perform a concert at Fluor Field for VIP ticket holders of the inaugural South Carolina College All Star Bowl on March 23.
VIP tickets are $150 and include parking, game seating, sideline access, food and beverage and entrance to the VIP After Party. Tickets can be purchased here.
Greer dancers invited to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Dancers with Greer’s Southern Dance Connection have been invited to perform in the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (Nov. 28) in New York City.
Lindsay Roberts, owner and director at the dance studio on O’Neal Road, said the cultural experience coupled with weeklong practices and the performance would be a lifetime event for her dancers.

Swingin' Medallions returning for Education Foundation Gala

The 2013 Greater Greer Education Gala will be held Oct. 26, a Saturday night, and will again feature the Swingin’ Medallions. The band was such a huge success last year, the Foundation decided an encore performance was in order.
The Foundation’s annual fundraising event will be held at the Cannon Centre on Cannon Street in Greer. The time will be announced later.
Marshall Tucker Band headlines Family Fest entertainment

The Marshall Tucker Band will headline the 29th Annual Village Hospital Greer Family Fest scheduled May 3-4.
Village Hospital President Tony Kouskolekas, Greer Chamber President/CEO Allen Smith and Chairman of the Chamber Board Bill Roughton made the announcement at the chamber this afternoon.
Bibs on' Shark Tank' is big for local web company

YourMark.com, a website development firm located on Trade Street in Greer, has been working the past three weeks to prepare client, bibbitec, for its TV debut tonight at 9 on ABC.
Miami-based bibbitec was selected from thousands of entrants to present its products to the “Sharks” from ABC's “Shark Tank”. The episode was filmed in early January.
