All right, people. You know I love hamburgers. Like, so, so much. The burger is the apex of American civilization. I follow six Brazilian hamburger makers on Instagram, because I love to see how the red-white-and-blue has blessed the world; not with the roll of stirring drums, but with deeds of hamburger the American kingdom comes.

The kingdom of hamburger is alive and well in the town of Greer, South Carolina, the place where I reside. I live only a few blocks from Trade Street, where downtown Greer's 2.5 blocks are stretched out. Every week I carve out time to do some work downtown, hanging out at Stomping Grounds Coffee Shop or Cameroon Cigars. When I break for lunch I have several options within eyesight of my chosen office of the day, and most of them serve burgers worth mentioning.

Dial is a 22-year-old from Spartanburg. She sang “I Believe” for the talent competition.

Freedom Blast gets a break from scorching temperatures

Freedom Blast on Saturday at Greer City Park “Will go on rain or shine,” City Administrator Ed Driggers said Tuesday at City Council.

Simmons won Talent on Tuesday for her tap dance to “Yankee Doodle Dandy”. Simmons, 17, is from Reidville.

Miss Hilton Head Island, Kate McKinney, 23, from Columbia, won the Talent preliminary. She performed a classical vocal of “Je Veux Vivre”.

Champion 'Hit Squad' is giving way to let the 'kids have the fun'

A dynasty appears to be over for the Hit Squad, a slow pitch softball team from the Greer Recreation Department.

The Hit Squad won this year’s championship but children of team members are now playing sports, making it difficult for the team to compete weekly.

Style and Fashion Camp coming downtown

A two-day fashion camp is scheduled June 22-23 at the Davenport on Trade Street.
 

A fashion stylist and TV personality will be hosting a Style and Fashion Camp June 22-23 (Monday-Tuesday) at the Davenport on Trade Street.

Charity Fogle, of Style Me Charity, is offering comprehensive fashion, skin care and hair, and dining and social etiquette sessions. The camp is for girls ages 11-18. Boys are welcome.
