$24.95: Greenville County residents face tax increases

Greenville County residents will pay tax increases of $24.95 in a two-part ordinance passed Tuesday night by Greenville County Council.

 

 

Greenville County taxpayers were socked with a 1-2 punch combination to the wallet– $24.95 – for two Greenville County Council measures that were approved Tuesday night.

By a 7-4 vote Greenville County Council approved the two-part ordinance in a third and final reading:

Public Safety Telecommunication

a) $14.95 for an ordinance to modernize radio equipment, according to officials, for public safety and emergency agencies in the county. The increase will be on the annual tax bill.

            1) $2.7 million, service cost to Greenville County a year

            2) 5,000 radios, $35 monthly subscription fee per radio

            3) $10 monthly subscription fee per radio

            4) $600,000 per year for six years for infrastructure, towers built and dispatch centers to be upgraded

Road Maintenance Fee

            $25 annual license plate sticker, $10 increase from present $15.

            • Note: No plan for the road maintenance was announced
