Sgt. Chad Richardson reported the first haul of unwanted medicines gathered from the drug locker at the Greer Police Department weighed 36 pounds.

“Those are not pills in their containers, I emptied all the containers before weighing them,” Richardson said. “ Two batches of medicine were also picked up from independent McLeskey-Todd and Professional Pharmacy. “They ran the gamut from aspirins to prescription medicines.”

“It’s great to know the community cares enough to what is right,” Richardson said. “That’s why Greer is such a great place to live.”

Richardson annually manages Greer’s “Drug Take Back” program. It has resulted in more than 600 pounds of medicine collected since 2010.

Unwanted medicines may be dropped off at the GPD at 102 S. Main Street.
