'Keep The Green in Greer' gets PFT endorsement

The Partnership for Tomorrow board of trustees unanimously endorsed the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce’s buy local campaign, “Keep the Green in Greer.”

The buy local campaign functions much like a gift card program.  A chamber staffer can pre-load the cards with any desired amount greater than $40. Purchasers then use the cards, as they would a gift card, to purchase merchandise at participating businesses dollar for dollar.  Participating businesses, which are Greer Chamber of Commerce members, handle the transaction as they would a credit card transaction

The program, since its December 2011 start, has generated $60,260 in expenditures to Greer chamber members.  “The core function of any chamber of commerce is to encourage local commerce,” said Allen Smith, President and CEO of the chamber. “This program not only encourages local commerce, it actually creates it.”

Mitsubishi Polyester Film and the City of Greer have utilized the gift cards for their employee bonus programs.

The Partnership for Tomorrow and Citizens Building & Loan are sponsoring a billboard this month on Wade Hampton Boulevard at North Hampton Market to promote the program.

“We’re pleased we could support Partnership For Tomorrow’s marketing efforts by donating the use of our billboard location for their upcoming campaign,” said Rhonda Turner, Vice President of Operations at CBL.

“Supporting the Chamber’s ‘Keep the Green in Greer’ program is just one small way that the Partnership for Tomorrow can provide value to our investors and the Greer Community,” said Larry Wilson, Chairman of the Partnership for Tomorrow—Progress in Motion.  “The Partnership has built its legacy on promoting solid public-private partnerships that have helped Greer realize its potential.  Buying local is a great example of the good things that can happen in our community when we all work together.”
