The Greer Idol winner will have to overcome some big odds in the finals Friday night to win the $1,500 first prize.

There’s no 50-50 chance of winning as in years past. Instead the six contestants will each have a 16.6 percent chance. Two weeks of rainouts and two less events scheduled than last year have bunched the field.

And the contestants better bring a lot of fans with money to cast $1 votes. There’s no online balloting as the votes on site will be counted and the winner will be announced at the end of the night.

The genre is 90’s and beach music. The vocalists will sing the full length of the song.

The final Tunes in the Park will be held at the Greer City Park Amphitheater with Idol Teen at 6 p.m. and Greer Idol at 8 p.m. Encore will perform between the Idol competitions at 7 and 9 p.m.
