'Annie' begins two-weekend run at Harley Bonds Career Center

“Annie” begins its 6-performance, two-weekend run Friday at the J. Harley Bonds Career Center. The Greer Children’s Theatre is cast for the production presented by the Greer Cultural Arts.

The play surrounds the popular comic strip heroine, a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstop of a New York City Orphanage.

Performances are Friday 7 p.m;. Saturday 7 p.m.; Sunday 2 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 11, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 12, 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 13, 2 p.m.

Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and children under 5-years is $6. Call 848-5383 or showtix4u.com for tickets.

WILD ACE PIZZA AND PUB: Name that tune trivia with Andrew Shaw is held each Thursday night beginning at 7:30. Tony Award nominee Cathy Rigby takes flight in an all new production of Peter Pan, two-time Emmy award winning and two-time Tony award nominated production. Tickets are $45-$75. GIVING THANKS ART SHOW: An artists reception will be held Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the Greer Event Complex. The exhibit will showcase Greer’s young artists from grades K-5 through 12th grade. Winners will be chosen in elementary, middle and high school levels. These winners will be displayed in the City Hall lobby leading up to the Thanksgiving holidays.

THE BOLSHOI RE-OPENING GALA: Sunday at the Peace Center, a special presentation, recorded live from the re-opening of The Bolshoi (Oct. 28). Opera greats, Placido Domingo, Natalie Dessay, Dimitri Hvorostovsky, and the principal dancers and soloists of the Bolshoi Ballet, including Natalia Osipova, will perform. Tickets are $15. RUSSIAN ART AT HERITAGE GREEN: Faberge’s Imperial Easter Egg is among the Russian iconic art items on display at the Museum and Gallery at Heritage Green (story Oct. 25) located at the 200 block of Buncombe in downtown Greenville.
