Larry Atkins, left, was presented the Patriot Award by a Department of Defense representative Wednesday at Chandler Creek Elementary School.
Atkins, the school’s plant engineer, was nominated by an employee for supporting soldiers that need to leave work and travel overseas to serve our country.
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off before and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed.
