Benton Blount’s next performance for “America’s Got Talent” will be in August at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.

Today, Blount gave GreerToday.com an exclusive interview looking back at Tuesday’s performance, looking ahead and singing for the first time with his two-year-old son, Jackson, in the audience.

“Having a child (with wife Ashley) has changed my life completely,” Blount said.

Judges Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel gave Blount good remarks.

Blount sang Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” with Stern calling it a “good, solid audition”, Klum said it was “a little rough around the edges . . . and I like it.” Guest host Marlon Waynas told Blount, “If the song was on the radio, I’d buy it.” Mandel said Blount “pulled it off” as a singer holding the people attention with just a guitar as a backup.

Mel B was impressed, but tepid when she said she asked herself halfway through the song if it “was enough”.

Marlon’s comment, “Was the more complementary of them all,” Blount said.

Voting becomes a factor in performers advancing and Blount said, “I know my fans will rally behind me. My friends, family and fans are my support system and I will need their help.”

Other random thoughts by Blount:

• Do you have a pre-performance routine?

"I enjoy hanging out with the guys, talking and relaxing. This helps me to not over think.”

• What are your thoughts performing on the stage at Radio City Music Hall?

“It is bigger than life. I entertained the thought, but never imagined that I would be able to. I will be learning as much as possible. I have more rehearsals, I will be learning the stage, and I will be getting filmed a lot and learning to perform to the camera."

• What are you looking forward to in NYC that can help further your career?

“I am interested in movies, TV shows, and I am open to a lot of things."

• Is there anything you have missed while competing in AGT?

“I enjoy the interaction with the fans at bars and clubs but I’m looking forward to people coming out to hear me and my songs."
