Published on Friday, September 21, 2012

BEREA (1-3, 0-1) at BLUE RIDGE (4-0, 1-0)
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

LAST WEEK:
Blue Ridge set a new school record for scoring in a game with 82 points in a lopsided 62-point victory at Eastside. The Tigers also rolled up more than 500 yards in total offense for the second-straight week and have scored 141 points in wins over Eastside and Chapman . . .. Berea is coming off a 32-22 loss to Southside, but were down 32-0 before three fourth-quarter touchdown passes by QB Tamize Wakefield.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:
“They’re kids, and it’s easy for them to lose focus. We’ve got a got a great coaching staff. We’re going to make sure we get their attention.” – Blue Ridge Head Coach Wade Cooper on guarding against his players’ becoming overconfident in the wake of their 82-20 win at Eastside.

THE RUNDOWN:
Former Greenville High offensive coordinator Robbie Cole is in his first season at Berea and has transformed the team’s former option offense into the spread to mixed results thus far. There has been nothing mixed about Blue Ridge’s reviews, however. The Tigers have been dominant in their past two games and appear to be a player along with Greenville and Greer atop the Region II-3A standings.
