The boil water advisory issued for the 100-plus homes in the Pelham Street area has been lifted, Greer CPW reported. Tests confirmed the water is safe to use as normal.
10:15 p.m. Tuesday
Greer Commission of Public Works reported three water main breaks within its system Tuesday and work was being continued overnight.
Water was turned off on Pelham Street (210-319) and East James Street (100-125) and a boil water advisory was announced at 10:15 p.m. for impacted customers.
Water was scheduled to be off 4-6 hours according to CPW. Workers were making repairs in frigid temperatures, dropping to 17 degrees at midnight.
CPW reported two other water main breaks:
• Brushy Creek Road near Southside Baptist Church.
• Suber Road near Wade Hampton Blvd and CVS.
Call 864-848-5500 if you see water bubbling or water in the cracks of the road.
Some CPW customers had a power outage on Dec. 26 caused by a squirrel, according to CPW spokesperson Alison Rauch. There was a delay restoring power since CPW purchases some of its power from other sources.
