The Carolina Boys Quartet, a traditional male southern gospel group from Anderson, will perform Sunday at Brushy Creek Baptist Church. The Johnson Edition, an upstate brothers-sisters group, will also appear and sing their progressive country and southern gospel blend.

The event invites all veterans free admission.

The voices of The Carolina Boys Quartet are as different as their occupations. Patrick Campbell, tenor, is a funeral director and embalmer, Chuck Lowe, the lead singer, is a certified public accountant, Toby Fricks, baritone, has a family car dealership, and Stephen Jewell, bass, is a self-employed plumber.

The quartet was formed on Dec. 5, 2009 when Ray Dean Reese of the Kingsmen Quartet and founder of the Carolina Boys Quartet, announced the ownership and trademark of the newly formed group.

The Johnson Edition – Breayn, Jathyn, Destiny and Westyn – are from the upstate, and have been singing their progressive county, southern gospel blend together since 2000. They recorded the “This Life” project in 2013 and their first single, “Shine On”, charted in the Singing News Top 80. “This Life”, their second release, was number four on Top 10 new releases.

They have appeared on internationally broadcast programs “Great American Gospel” and “America Gospel Onstage”.

Veterans attending are free and admission is $10. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the concert begins a 6.
