The sights, sounds and smells of Christmas arrive in Greer this weekend.

The lighting of the Christmas tree at City Park is Friday, breakfast with Santa at the Cannon Centre Saturday and the Christmas Parade on Sunday highlight a weekend of activities.

City Park will take center stage on Friday when music, arts and crafts, free inflatables and the arrival of Santa Claus will precede the lighting of Greer’s Christmas tree.  The only secret is how Santa will arrive to greet the children of Greer Friday evening. He has arrived by helicopter, military vehicle and the Greer Fire Department’s hook and ladder fire truck.

The annual Christmas parade on Sunday will also be a fundraiser for Greer Relief. “Home for the Holidays” is the theme for the marching bands, beauty queens, businesses and participants.

Children are invited to write Santa a letter and they will receive a personal response. The Parks and Recreation Department are helping Santa with the logistics. Letters may be turned into city or parks and recreation personnel or brought to the City Operations Center at 446 Pennsylvania Ave.

Here is the calendar and events for the weekend’s festivities.
