Civic club pays tribute at City Park tree for first responders
The Rotary Club of Greater Greer created a tribute to first responders for the 15th anniversary of 9/11, hanging decorated stars from a Greer City Park tree near the fountain as part of the HOPE Tree project.

“Last week, many questioned if Americans still remember the horror of watching events unfold on September 11, 2001. First responders live with those memories every day they report to work, not just once a year,” said Steve Owens, communications manager for the City of Greer. “We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Greater Greer for creating such a touching and visible tribute to local first responders and for sending hope to a community that desperately needs it.”

Once the stars are removed, club members plan to send them to Hammond, La., one of the areas hit hardest by flooding in August.
