Restaurants are participating in “Cops Night Out”, an initiative that provides the Greer Police Department’s officer of the month and his/her family dinner at a local restaurant.

Bill Bennett, during a ride along with a Greer officer, learned of the extra time police work cuts into family time when extra time is required to finish a case, attend court, training, side jobs and mandatory call-ins.

Bennett, a member of the GPD Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and Dale Haule collected gift cards, two each, from six restaurants – (BIN112, Copper River Grill, Great Bay Oyster House, Rivera’s, The Strip Club 104 Steak House and Wild Ace Pizza and Pub.

February’s officer of the month is Det. Dale Arterburn.

“We would like to thank the participating restaurants,” Lt. Jim Holcombe stated. This program truly shows that ‘Policing is a Partnership’. It is a great idea from the CPAAA and awesome contribution from the local businesses.”

Call Holcombe at 848-2156 for more information.
