Costa wins National Petite Miss Heart of the USA pageant

Catarina Costa, from Duncan, has been crowned National Petite Miss Heart of the USA. She won in the 8-10 age group

It was Costa’s first national pageant. She was a Palmetto Princess to Lanie Hudson, Miss South Carolina 2014 and to Taylor Ross, Miss Greater Greer Teen 2013.

The pageant was held in Orlando, Fla.

Costa is an honors student in the fifth grade, a member of the Gifted and Talented Art Program and plays the violin in the school orchestra. She is also a competitive dancer with her team.

Costa’s community service has earned a Presidential Gold Award and she was recognized by her State House representative on the floor of the South Carolina legislature.

She visits the Ronald McDonald House to assist residents staying there and volunteers at the Duncan community center food pantry and daycare.

Costa, 11, is the daughter of Kathryn and Joe Costa.
