Dial wins Miss South Carolina, Brown of Greer is 1st runner up

Daja Dial, Miss Greenville County, was crowned Miss South Carolina 2015 at Township Auditorium in Columbia on Saturday,

Dial is a 22-year-old from Spartanburg. She sang “I Believe” for the talent competition.

Anna Brown, Miss Greater Greer, was first runnerup.

Sarah Hamrick was crowned Miss South Carolina Teen 2015 on Friday. Hamrick, 17, from Cowpens, attends Broome High School. She sang “Live Out Loud” for the talent competition, Hamrick will compete in America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in August in Orlando, Fla.

Dial is the second straight winner who attended Clemson. Lanie Hudson, also a Clemson graduate, was Miss South Carolina 2014. Hudson was also a former Miss Greater Greer.

The televised event on FOX momentarily switched to its regular programming when the pageant went several minutes over its 10:30 p.m. scheduled finish.

Dial will compete in the Miss America Pageant in mid-September in Atlantic City, N.J.

The final placements for Miss South Carolina are:

Winner, Daja Dial, Miss Greenville County

First runner up: Miss Greater Greer, Anna Brown

Second runner up: Miss Hilton Head Island, Kate McKinney

Third runner up: Miss Inman, Lustra Miller

Fourth runner up: Miss Greenville Scottish Games, Anna Polatty

Rounding out the top 10:

Miss Lexington, Kelly Ragan

Miss North Charleston, Stirling Rentz

Miss Midlands, Tori Sizemore

Miss Fountain Inn, Leah Lawson

Miss Upstate, Lauren Cabaniss

Semifinalists in the top 16:

Miss Newberry College, Kelley Strong

Miss Simpsonville, Mary Grace Nasim

Miss River City, Alexandra Dubose

Miss Hartsville, Suzi Roberts

Miss Blue Ridge Foothills, Shiobhan Fraser

Miss York, Mae-Ann Webb
