Ericks, from Taylors, advances to Global Idol finals in Philippines

Taylors's Shane Ericks, a student at Greenville Technical College, has advanced to the final round of the Global Pinoy Singing Idol competition in Manila, Philippines.

 

 

Shane Ericks, a student at Greenville Technical College, has advanced through local and regional competition to be invited to participate in the final round of the Global Pinoy Singing Idol competition.

Ericks, from Taylors, will travel to Manila, Philippines for the Jan. 17-22, 2016 world competition.

Performing “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys, Ericks was one of two winners from the national competition held in Elgin, Ill., earlier this month.

The winner of the final round of competition will receive $2,000 and a recording contract.

Ericks is a Wade Hampton High School graduate who plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in commercial music.

The Global Pinoy Singing Idol competition is sponsored by CFC-ANCOP (Couples for Christ Answering the Call of the Poor), an organization that raises funds for the education of financially disadvantaged youth in the Philippines.
