Erik Gammon, a student in the Baking and Pastry Arts program at Greenville Technical College, received an Outstanding Tourism Student award at the Governor's Conference on Travel and Tourism, held in January in Columbia.

Gammon was selected by faculty members from the Culinary Institute of the Carolinas at Greenville Tech. Each two-year and four-year college in the state with a hospitality or culinary arts program selects an outstanding student for this award. In all, eight awards were presented.
