A $3,000 purse with a $1,000 payout to the person who catches the biggest largemouth bass headlines the annual Family Fest Fishing Tournament scheduled Saturday, April 19 at Lake Robinson. The first place boat will be awarded $800 contingent on 50 boats participating.

Larry Beheler, tournament director, said this is the latest start for the tournament, which puts it within two weeks of the Family Fest, scheduled May 2-3. “We are making the tournament more uniform by scheduling it the third weekend in April,” Beheler said. “It’s Easter weekend but we’re hoping some families will join us for Saturday.”

The Family Fest is traditionally the first weekend in May. The Marshall Tucker Band will headline the event with a Saturday night concert at City Park.

The boats are scheduled for a safe light launch, 6:30 – 7 a.m. with weigh-in at 3 p.m. The entry fee for a two-person boat is $100.

The payout behind first place is $500 for 2nd, $400 3rd, $300 4th, $200 5th and $100 for 6th.

Mail entry forms to Larry Beheler, Sharp Car Center, 117 W. Wade Hampton Blvd., Greer, SC 29650. Call 864-877-6956 for more information. Beheler said to visit the Greer Chamber of Commerce web site for tournament rules.
