Fine Arts Center RMS Visitation Day set for Nov. 21

The Fine Arts Center will hold its annual Middle School visitation day on Thursday, Nov. 21.  This is a day when current eighth-graders interested in the arts are invited to spend a half day at The Center looking over their programs and meeting faculty and students.  

The session is from 9:15 to 11:05 a.m.  Transportation is not provided.

Each visiting student, the guest, should complete a Prearranged Absence Form.

RMS PTSA meeting will be Nov. 12
RMS will have its monthly PTSA Meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 6:30 pm.  Hear the latest PTSA news and volunteer opportunities. 

Seventh-graders complete Junior Achievement program

Susan Mathewson’s 7th-grade Career Education class at RMS successfully completed Junior Achievement’s six-week program entitled, It's My Future, with Benjamin D. Gecewich, UMG Department Operations Director, Greenville Health System.

Mural painter visits RMS art class
Mural painter Jovetta Walter, came into all of Audrey Cook's art classes on Oct. 29 to work with students and share her education/career path and daily activities as a painter. 

RMS holds Fall Chorus Concert
RMS Fall Chorus Concert was held on Oct. 29 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Riverside High School.

RMS students attend Fall/Halloween Dance
RMS students attended the Fall/Halloween Dance and were given the opportunity to participate in a costume contest. The costume winners were:  Funniest: Khayla Cruz; Overall: Brooke Taylor.

RMS has two winners in Illustrated Poem Contest
RMS has two winners for the middle grades category for the Western Carolinas National Chemistry Week’s Illustrated Poem Contest. Both first- and second-place winners are from Richane Robbins’ 7th-grade Science classes: 1st place, Lisa McClennan, and 2nd place, Lauren Fallow. First place will advance to the American Chemical Society National Illustrated Poem Contest. The theme was: "Energy: Now and Forever!" and the poems were judged by Furman University.  

Next Cyber Saturday will be Nov. 16 at University Center
The next Cyber Saturday is scheduled for 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the University Center of Greenville. The topic is: Gumball Drum Machine, which is an audio hardware and software program that helps you create your own electronic music. Register early to reserve your spot. To learn more, please stop by Ms. Howard's office (D167).  

RMS promoting Aviation Art Contest
RMS is promoting the 2014 International Aviation Art Contest. The theme is "Flying Saves Lives."  RMS deadline to enter is Friday, Jan. 10. For more information, contact Brooke Howard at 355-7987 or [email protected].

RMS is seeking parents and people in the community that may be interested in coming to speak to students about their career to expose students to a variety of career opportunities and/or would like to host a student for a job shadowing experience for a day.
