Drivers are celebrating the cheapest gas price averages in the Carolinas in three years. South Carolina’s $1.92 average is down one cent from Jan., 1 and North Carolina’s $2.13 average is also down a cent.

The lowest gas price in Greer was $1.69 a gallon at a 7-Eleven at 13195 East Wade Hampton Boulevard.

Trends indicate that prices will likely remain low for at least the first half of the month.

South Carolina’s average is down four cents on the week, 19 cents on the month and 32 cents on the year.  North Carolina’s average is six cents down on the week, 22 cents on the month and 23 cents on the year. ?

“With OPEC production cuts scheduled to take effect this week, the price of oil could increase,” said Tiffany Wright, AAA Carolinas spokesperson. “If a shift in higher market prices takes place, we could see higher prices at the pump, but hopefully the increase would be minimal for motorists.”
