The activities and schedule for the City of Greer Freedom Blast on Saturday, June 29 will feature a Military Salute to the men and women of the U.S. Armed Services and veterans and a return to Greer of the Swingin’ Medallions. The recognized “Party Band of the South” entertained last year at the Greater Greer Educational Foundation Gala.

The South Carolina Army and Air National Guard will have vehicles displayed, and the Disabled Veterans will staff an information trailer presented by the Greer Leadership Class of XXXII.  

The National Guard’s rock climbing tower will return.

The poignant salute to veterans will begin with a parade from the fountains in City Park to the main stage during the playing of patriotic music.

A Kids Zone will offer free crafts and activities and an inflatables venue will return with an unlimited pass for nine air-filled attractions for $5 per person.

Greer Idol begins its competition with 13 teens and 13 Idol competitors.

Activities

6-9 p.m. – Blood Drive (Blood Connection)

6-8 p.m. – Kids’ Zone

6-9:30 p.m. – Inflatables (note: lines cut off at 9 p.m.)

Entertainment (Amphitheater) 

7:15 p.m. – Pie Eating Contest (Adult and Youth divisions)

Main Stage

6 p.m. – Greer Idol Teen Competition

6:30 p.m. – Greer Idol Competition

7:45 p.m. – Swingin’ Medallions

9:40 p.m. – Military Tribute

10:15 p.m. – Fireworks (Zambelli)

Food/Beverage

 6-10:30 p.m. – Park Promenade (to be announced)

Military Vehicles 10-15 (Presented by Military History Club of the Carolinas)

• M1-51 – Jeeps (Vietnam War)

• M38s – (Korean War)

• M38 A1 (Cold War/early Vietnam)

• WWII Weapons Carrier
