Greenville beat No. 7-ranked Greer 35-14 at Greenville’s Sirrine Stadium Friday night. Greenville is 6-2 overall and Greer fell to 5-3.

Greenville’s Davis Beville threw three touchdown passes. He connected with Tydricus Hellams for a 55-yard touchdown in the second quarter and a 43-yard score in the third quarter. Beville also hooked up with Joe Christian on a 6-yard scoring toss in the fourth quarter.

Jahein Dendy rushed for a 6-yard score in the second quarter and Danyaus Williams-Byrd scored the final Greenville TD on a 13-yard run.

Greer quarterback Trey Houston threw a first quarter touchdown when he connected with Alex Syphertt on a 13-yard score to take its only lead of the game, 7-6, with 2:31 left. Andres Toro’s extra point gave the Yellow Jackets a short lead.

Dendy’s TD with 17 seconds left in the first quarter gave Greenville the lead for good.

Quay White scored Greer’s second touchdown with 1:16 left in the game and Andres Toro’s extra point ended the Yellow Jackets scoring.

White led all rusher with 160 yards on 20 carries for an 8.0 average.

Beville paced Greenville’s office with 13 completions in 19 attempts for 226 yards with his three touchdowns.

The teams’ total offense wasn’t indicative of the score. Greenville had 340 yards on 57 plays compared to Greer’s 315 yards on 60 plays.

Greer plays at Union County next week and ends its regular season playing at rival Blue Ridge on Oct. 28. Greer and Union County are both 2-0 in Region II-AAAA play.

Greer and Union County played twice last year, Greer winning in the regular season and Union County eliminating Greer in the second round of the state playoffs.

Greer is 5-3 and Union County is 4-4.
