Girls on the Run Coach Training

 

Coaches are needed for the fall session of Girls on the Run. You don’t need to be a runner, just enthusiastic about the healthy development of young girls. Girls on the Run

 

Registration is now open for this 10-week program that combines training for a 5K run with esteem-enhancing workouts for girls ages 8-15. Program kicks off September 18 and is sponsored by Greenville Health System Children’s Hospital. Fee: $199 ($9.95/session). Scholarships or monthly payment plans are available. SoleMates

 

SoleMates provides adults an opportunity to raise money for Girls on the Run, a local program that combines training for a 5K with esteem-enhancing workouts for girls ages 8-15, while training for a half or full marathon. For more information, call 455-3252.

Smoking Cessation Support Group

 

This group meets every Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Patewood Memorial Hospital. No fee to attend. For more information, call 455-WELL (9355).

Weight Management Support Group

 

This group meets the first and third Wednesday, 6-7 p.m., at the Greenville Health System Life Center. Next class is August 7. No fee to attend. For more information, call 455-WELL (9355).

Cancer Survivors Support Group

Anyone who has ever had a cancer diagnosis is invited to join this support group, which meets the third Tuesday of every month from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the lobby of the Cancer Institute of Greenville Health System. A support group specifically for breast and gynecological cancer survivors takes place the fourth Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, call 455-3740.

Yoga for Cancer Survivors 

A yoga class for cancer survivors takes place Thursdays, 12:30-1:30 p.m., and 4:30-5:30 p.m., at the Cancer Institute of Greenville Health System. All skill levels welcome. Both classes are free, but registration is required. To register, call 455-3740.

Walking Club

Cancer patients, survivors and caregivers are invited to walk as a group every Friday. The group meets at 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Cancer Institute of Greenville Health System. To join the club, call 455-5809.

Coffee Chat

Cancer survivors are invited to meet, relax and chat the third Friday of every month from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Cancer Institute of Greenville Health System.
