GREER (0-1) at RIVERSIDE (0-1)

 Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

LAST WEEK: Seneca gambled on a two-point conversion in overtime and it was good enough to beat Greer, 46-45. Greer’s offense lived up to its preseason billing with its production despite only having possession for 16:08 and 49 plays. … Quez Nesbitt scored five touchdowns, rushed for 216 yards on 13 carries – one a 91-yard TD run. …  Jackets placekicker Thomas Center, in his first varsity appearance, made all 6 of his PATs and added a 29-yard FG. … The Jackets defense had a tough time as Seneca ran off 71 plays with 60 of them runs gaining a total of 290 yards and 5 rushing TDs. Riverside lost its home opener to Eastside 41-14. … Riverside turned the ball over eight times … it was the Warriors’ 11th straight loss going back to the second game of last year.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:

Riverside head coach Steve Euote: “We struggled, especially in the first quarter. The most important thing we tell our kids is to have possession of the ball at the end of the play. … As a coach I must put the kids in position to win.”

Greer head coach Will Young: “Seneca caught us a little off guard with three tight ends, four tight ends. We’re obviously not where we want to be. But we’ll be a good football team.”
