More than 20,000 pounds of paper was shredded Wednesday when Greer State Bank hosted a free Community Shred Day and Food Drive.

The paperless society took a couple steps backward when 4 Shred-A-Way trucks were required to dispose of the paper during the all-day drive.

"By far, this has been one of our better shredding events. We're happy to see the amount of food and donations that have come in today. It’s nice to be part of such a great cause,” said Brad Ward, owner of Shred-A-Way.

Canned goods resulting in at least 50 boxes of food donations and over $500, which will be distributed to Greer Relief, Greer Soup Kitchen and Greer Community Ministries were donated by the participants.

The Dark Corner Diner food truck was on site serving lunch.
