Greer Bi-Lo stores are among 46 in the Upstate and Western North Carolina that will become Food Lions, after the sale to Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion, a division of Ahold Delhaize USA.
Southeastern, based in Jacksonville, Fla., reported its distribution center in Mauldin will be transferred to Ahold’s ADUSA Distribution and the in-store pharmacies of the sold stories will be transferred to CVS and Walgreens. The pharmacy transfers would begin in next two weeks.
A buyer for 61 currently operating Bi-Lo stores, not included in the deal, will be sought.
Food Lion reported it is expected to hire more than 4,500 current Southeastern associates to serve customers at the new stores. It was reported current Bi-Lo employees would have to reapply for positions.
Bi-Lo stores will remain open under their current banners in a staggered period until the transaction is completed from January to April 21 2021.
