A Greer Idol contestant will win $2,000 Friday night in the Season 10 finals at the Greer City Park amphitheater.

Will Rawls, Andre Webb and Olivia Wells will compete for the championship Friday rain or shine. Last week’s band did not perform but the six Idol contestants did weather severe thunderstorms to sing in the semifinals.

Singers will perform three songs – one of their choices, one from the 1980’s and the judges’ selection of a “Wonderful World”

Encore will perform for the final Tunes on Trade of the summer season.

The park opens at 6 p.m. for preliminary games and events for children, Encore will perform sets at 7 and 9 p.m., and Greer Idol singers perform at 8 p.m. Voting will begin immediately after the performances.

The ‘80s song helps promote Greer Cultural Arts’ free production of 1980s Music Revue scheduled July 29-31 at the Cannon Centre. Friday and Saturday shows are 7 p.m. and Sunday is 2 p.m.

Caroline Chandler, Bethany Ghent and Lovell Waters were eliminated in the fan balloting.

Friday’s winner will be determined by ballots submitted at the venue – one vote per person.

Rawls performed in Greer Idol last summer and has appeared in Greenville Sings at the Blues Boulevard Jazz Club.

Webb has performed in venues throughout Philadelphia and Wells has performed in the Freshman Honors Recital at Anderson University.
