Marcus Antwan Richey, 28, answered his door on Will Street after hearing a knock about 12:45 a.m., from two unknown individuals, said Lt. Patrick Fortenberry of the GPD.
After a brief argument, Richey was shot and went back into his house and locked the door, Fortenberry said.
Richey was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where he died, according to Fortenberry.
Detectives with the GPD Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the case alongside the Spartanburg County Coroner’s office, Fortenberry said. GPD asks that anyone with any information concerning this case to call the 864-848-2151.
