Greer Police Department hosts annual Fallen Officers Memorial Pancake Dinner

Published on Tuesday, August 14, 2018

The Greer Police Department hosted its first annual Fallen Officers Memorial Fund Pancake Dinner Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Eggs Up Grill, 805 West Wade Hampton Blvd. Officers and staff will be serving those who have donated to the Fallen Officers Memorial Fund.

The  fundraiser was organized in an effort to raise additional money for the Upstate Fallen Officers Fund which in the past has been funded solely through the annual charity softball tournament that the Greer Police Department hosts in August of each year. This year’s annual softball tournament will be held August 25 and 26 at Century Park in Greer.

Since the inception of the Upstate Fallen Officers Memorial Fund the Greer Police Department has been able to donate $21,000 to fallen officer’s families in the Upstate. The department has partnered with the Gallagher’s Army Fallen Officer Fund which matches every donation, doubling the impact to the families of fallen officers ($42,000 donated to date).

The families of the following fallen officers have received donations from this fund:

Deputy Roger Rice Jr., Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, (EOW 7/14/11)

Officer Allen Jacobs, Greenville City Police Department, (EOW 3/18/16)

Officer Jason Harris, Spartanburg Police Department, (EOW 4/13/17)

Deputy Devin Hodges, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, (EOW 6/01/17)
