Greer police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred near the intersection of Davis Avenue and Poplar Drive.

The male occupant of a vehicle was shot while seated inside his car at the intersection at approximately 6:45 p.m., according to Lt. Patrick Fortenberry of the Greer Police Department.

The initial investigation indicates that another vehicle drove by the victim while he was seated in his car at the intersection and shot into his vehicle, Fortenberry said. The victim was the sole occupant of the car and was transported to the emergency room for treatment. The injuries to the victim do not appear to be life threatening at this time, Fortenberry said.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division arrived to begin their investigation into the incident.

“Based on the information known to us at this time it appears that the parties involved knew each other and that this is an isolated incident, Fortenberry said. No further information was available.
