Greer beat Clinton, 23-14.

What to look for:

Greer: Quarterback Mario Cusano, only a junior, is being compared to former All-State and Furman standout QB Reese Hannon. Cusano has a rifle arm and threw for 163 yards and 2 TDs last week without an interception. Dorian Lindsey, a quarterback turned wide receiver, caught 7 passes – 2 for TDs. Greer’s offensive line is led by Cole Henderson and is coached by Young, an All-ACC lineman during his playing days at Clemson. Greer’s kicking game packs a solid 1-2 punch with Jay Arrowood averaging 33.3 yards on 4 kicks last week. Nick Roberson was true on all 3 extra points. Defensively, the Yellow Jackets appear to be stronger than first thought. Greer held Clinton’s vaunted running game to 72 yards, under a 2.0-yard average per rush last week and less than 100 yards total. Greer has bigger and faster athletes in sheer numbers.

Riverside: Head Coach Phil Smith played and coached at Greer High School. He earned his first win last week at Eastside and saw the Warriors end a 19-game losing streak. Quarterback Ryan Cerino earned the Greer TD Club offensive player of the week for his 2 TD, 19 for 28 passes, 198 yards passing, 60 yards rushing and 1 TD performance at Eastside. The Warriors don’t have the size to match up with Greer’s big line. Riverside will be without Darius Smith, who was ejected from last week’s game and is ineligible to play tonight. “Warrior Nation” spirit squad hosts tailgating at 5 p.m.

Line: Greer 20. Points 45.
