A Greer women’s 3.5 level team captured the championship at the United States Tennis Association Southern Sectional Championships.
Greer’s Bonnie Sue Duncan and Patsy Harrelson, B team captains, beat the A team from Columbia, 2-1, captained by Vicki Williamson, in the 65 & over tournament last weekend at Hilton Head Island.
Georgia was represented with three champions from Albany, Columbus and Roswell.
There were 59 men and women teams with more than 527 players competing in NTRP levels 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 9.0 combined.
This year’s event drew the top teams from throughout the section’s nine states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
