Greer's Strickland finishes 2nd in junior golf tour tournament

Will Strickland finished in a tie for second at the 15-18 division of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tournament (HJGT) at Red Bridge Golf Course in Locust, N.C. He is ranked 23rd on the tour.

Strickland has played eight events and made cuts in each tournament. He has accumulated 1,250 points which has him ranked 23rd on the tour.

Strickland and David Baker, Weddington, N.C., finished behind Aaron Walker of Charlotte, who shot a 69 on Sunday to win the Major Championship.

Walker was the only male who scored under par in the 53-player field. He also won the EFX Birdie Challenge with 10 birdies on the weekend and led the field in performance on par four holes, averaging a score of 3.8.

Strickland shot a 74-74–148 with six birdies and averaged a 4.7 scoring average for all par five holes. Contributing to Baker's final score of 148 was 23 pars and five birdies.

All the players were allowed to use caddies since it was a major event.

All winners receive an invite to the HJGT Championship. The tour is based out of Jacksonville, Fla., and makes stops in South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Ohio.
