Hartsville defeated Eastside 65-62 in overtime Saturday night to win its second straight Class AAA boys state basketball championship in Columbia.
Hartsville became the seventh team in state history to win football and basketball championships in the same school year.
Jaylen Shaw led Hartsville (28-1) with 16 of his 23 points scored in the fourth quarter and overtime. Devontae Washington scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Eastside (25-4) had a chance to tie in overtime but a three-point attempt hit high on the backboard as the overtime ended.
Davaris McGowens of Eastside scored a game-high 28 points and hauled down 19 rebounds. Keil Sherman contributed 16 points.
