Greenville County EMS was called to the detention center at 2:55 Tuesday morning in reference to an inmate in medical duress. After the arrival, Greenville County EMS pronounced the inmate deceased and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene.
The Greer Police Department contacted the SC Law Enforcement Division in to investigate the death.
The name of the inmate was not immediately released.
“The Greer Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased,” Lt. Patrick Fortenberry said in the release.
Further details concerning this incident will be released by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and the SC Law Enforcement Division.
