Award winning The James Brothers, Marshall and Leon, will be among the headliners at the 3rd Annual Story Telling Celebration “Let Me Tell It” Saturday at Little St. John Baptist Church in Wellford.

The all-day story telling and gospel music event is 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs.

Also sharing the day of history, culture and heritage is John Fowler, storyteller, author and authority on the legendary “Trotting Sally”. Bernie Maxie Berton, Greg McKee, telling the origin of the community churches as “Brush Arbors”, The real story of “Hoe Cake Bread” and John C. Abercrombie is the master of ceremony. An open mike session will be held.

Marshall and Leon began singing gospel at an early age when their father formed a singing group that included their older brother Albert.

The James brothers organized a prison ministry in Lyman that remains active in their community of Lyman. They have collected used bicycles, painted and repaired each one and organized a program for children in need. They perform regularly in community events.

Their gospel music and storytelling represent an old-school style of singing that features harmonies, call-and-response, and shouts and praise in a capella style. They incorporate elements of rhythm and blues and doo-wop.

Call Marshall James at 864-439-0130 or 864-310-0826 for more information.
