Attention prospective Walmart employees.

A job fair is scheduled for the Greer Walmart Neighborhood Market with employees to be hired by mid-December and the store opening in February.

Jennifer Rader, a spokeswoman with Walmart (NYSE: WMT), told GreerToday.com the job fair is scheduled Monday, Nov. 26, at 104 Middleton Way, Suite C from 10 a.m. – noon and 3-5 p.m. “It’s right after the holidays so it could be great or it could be average,” Rader said.

Corporate officials targeted the number of hires at 90-100 when it was learned that Walmart would open its first grocery brand store in South Carolina at 805 Wade Hampton Blvd. Rader said the budget for hires will be finalized this week but online posts from employees suggest the range will be between $8 and $11.50, depending on the job requirements.

“Grocery store experience would be great and we look for employees with excellent customer service skills,” Rader said. She said prospective employees can apply at Walmart stores or online.

The Neighborhood Market will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will focus on groceries, feature a deli and pharmacy. “There will be a small assortment of merchandise,” Rader said.

The store will carry a full line of groceries, including fresh produce, frozen foods, meat and dairy products, and organic items. A deli will offer hot rotisserie chicken, a wide variety of meats, cheeses and freshly prepared foods. Customers can pick up cakes and freshly made bread in the bakery.

The Market will have a pharmacy, selection of health-related products and a health and beauty area. Separate areas will have stationery, paper goods, pet products and hardware items.

Greer’s Walmart Superstore, also open 24/7, will continue to offer its inventory of  groceries. Corporate officials have said its stores do not take items off its shelves to accommodate a sister brand in a nearby store.

The Neighborhood Market is undergoing a $2.4 million interior upfit and is nearing completion of its $768,500 façade. The parking lot at Greer Plaza has been renovated with new asphalt and landscaped islands. All the stores are undergoing a façade upgrade. Langley and Associates are the architects of the shopping center’s facelift.

Walmart ranks as the nation’s largest grocer and reportedly generates more than half of its revenue from grocery sales.
