Last year we went to one of the Advent services at church and traditionally they do communion at each advent service. Typically Jackson had not taken communion but I decided to let him do it. The next time we went to the Advent service he whispered to me and said, “Mommy, are we going to take a break?”
I said a 'break' and he said, “grape juice and crackers” and then it dawned on me what he was saying and was talking about communion.
The whole family is allergic to cats and dogs. So there’s not a whole lot of pets we can get for him. So he asked Santa for a hamster. Santa delivered a hamster cage for him and wrote a note saying he thought it would be best if Jackson would go to PetSmart and pick out his own hamster so he could have a choice of what he wanted. The day we brought the hamster home I remember Jackson holding the cage in his lap and saying, “This is the best day of my life.”
