Riverside High School’s Kate Ambrose was honored by Greer City Council Tuesday night for winning the South Carolina High School League AAAA cross country championship.
Ambrose will be remembered historically as the first athlete to win a state championship in Class AAAA.
She ran 18:07 to well outdistance her competitors last month.
The Riverside girls, led by Ambrose, and Riverside boys were also honored for winning the team championships.
