George Clooney was a hit on the set in Greer while filming "Leatherheads". The City of Greer is showing the movie Aug. 15 as part of the Cannon Centre Cinema.
The Cannon Centre Cinema has a four-movie run for an audience ages 17 and over with “The Hunger Games” starring Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and “Leatherheads” which was filmed in Greer.
Moonlight Movies, all rated PG, are back for seven dates at the City’s amphitheater beginning June 6 with “Happy Feet”. Except for the July 4 holiday, the schedule will run every Thursday at dusk through July 25.
The Cannon Centre movie are May 23 and 30, and Aug. 15 and 22.
Downtown Greer was used in some of the filming of “Leatherheads”, starring George Clooney and Renee Zellweger. The movie is about professional football players during the leather helmet era. Greer was portrayed as Duluth, Minn. Clooney frequently chatted with stargazers on the way to his set.
Admission to the moonlight movies is free. A money and canned good donation is admission to the Cannon Center Cinema movies.
