Lee, Bafna, Meyer earn firsts in Southside Invitational

Riverside Middle School’s speech and debate team participated in the High School Invitational Tournament for the junior division on Feb. 11.  Finalists for the tournament were Carol Lee (first place, Humorous Interp), Vaibhav Bafna and Yasmin Meyer (first place, Public Forum Debate), Liz Schell (first place, Impromptu), and Sangram Kadam and Tiger Mou (sixth place, Public Forum Debate).

Upcoming events:

• As a conclusion to the school’s Black History Month activities, RMS will host guest speaker, Rev. Simone Teague and his character portrayal of Harriet Tubman.  Other activities have included daily trivia contests, a poetry contest, and a black history bee contest. 

• Ice cream sundaes will be sold Friday, March 2 in the school cafeteria for $2.
