Will Lewis edged Sheriff Steve Loftis in a runoff for Greenville County Sheriff.
Lewis, a former sheriff’s deputy won 50.79 percent of the vote to Loftis’ 49.21 percent. The returns are unofficial and the results will be certified Thursday at noon.
A five candidate race on June 14 had neither candidate able to garner 50 percent of the vote, forcing a runoff. Loftis had 41 percent (13,769 votes) and Lewis 18.19 percent (6,216 votes)
Lewis is the likely sheriff as no other candidate has filed for the November election.
