Mayor Rick Danner endorsed Greer's Amanda Somers' candidacy for the S.C. Senate District 5 race. The S.C. Republican primary is June 12.
Somers responded in a press release: “It is an honor to receive such high praise from a man like Mayor Danner. He is a true statesman in our community and I value his leadership. I truly respect how Mayor Danner has led Greer to its success through the years and I plan to take what I have learned from him to Columbia."
Rep. Tom Corbin and novice Wyatt Miler are also on the ballot for Senate District 5. The S.C. Republican primary is June 12. The winner of the primary is unopposed in the November general election.
Incumbent Sen. Phil Shoopman, who registered for the primary, surprisingly withdrew April 15 after the filing period ended.
