A crowd of shaggy-haired customers welcomed Mike Bullock back to work today.

Bullocks Barber Shop, at 225 Trade Street, has been closed since Bullock had a pre-dawn heart attack at home on Jan. 20. A sign on the door was placed signaling customers he would be back at work Monday, as usual.

“It feels good to be back,” Bullock said. “I can’t believe I’m back this quick and feel this good.”

Wes McKenzie was getting trimmed at 11:15 a.m. and six customers filled the waiting room. “There were six already here when I got here about an hour and a half ago,” McKenzie said.

Bullock’s stamina will be tested. “I feel good right now and am surprised with my stamina,” Bullock said.

Bullock had a stent implanted to prop open an artery that had become clogged. Stents are highly effective at relieving symptoms such as chest pain, fatigue and shortness of breath caused by blockages.
