NGU wins big, advances to DII World Series

North Greenville University's baseball team celebrates its championship win Saturday.

 

North Greenville University beat Columbus State in the championship game of the Southeast Super Regional Baseball Tournament at NGU’s Ray & Bea Dillard Field, 13-3, Saturday.

Columbus State forced a final championship game when it beat NGU 4-3 to even the best-of-3 series at one win each. It was North Greenville’s record setting 50th win of the season.

NGU took control of the championship game with a six-run first inning highlighted by Pat Monteith’s three-run home run. Ethan Stringer hit a 2-run homer in the seventh inning.

NGU advances to the DII World Series June 4-11 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. It's NGU's first trip to the World Series.
