North Greenville continues run in playoffs, beats Tuskegee

Will Hunter threw three touchdown passes and ran for a one-yard score in North Greenville University's playoff win over Tuskegee Saturday.

 

North Greenville came out of the gate with four first quarter touchdowns to beat Tuskegee, 45-26, in the second round of the NCAA Division II Saturday in Tigerville.

NGU (9-4) will play North Alabama (9-1) in the semifinals next Saturday at a time to be announced. North Alabama beat UNC Pembroke, 41-9.

Will Hunter threw three touchdown passes and ran for a one-yard score.

Hunter’s TD passes were 24- and 51-yards to Demajiay Rooks and a 10-yard strike to Mason Sanders.

Bobby Foos recovered a NGU fumble in the end zone for a touchdown and Hunter scored on a one-yard run. Matt Gravely’s 26-yard field goal ended the scoring for NGU.

Hunter completed 17 of 32 pass attempts for 272 yards. Rooks caught seven passes for 119 yards.

Tracy Scott rushed for 123 yards and Ashton Heard added 94 for the Crusaders, who totaled 511 yards.

Tuskegee was led by quarterback Kevin Lacey who passed for three touchdowns and 276 yards on 22 of 36 pass attempts. Javious Cheatham caught nine passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.

NGU’s defense held Tuskegee to 64 yards rushing.
